The use of IR in remote controls is advantageous because it does not require the remote to be wired to the lighting system, offering convenience and flexibility in controlling the lights. However, the range and angle of control can be limited compared to radio frequency (RF) remotes, and IR remotes require a direct line of sight to the receiver.
